Waterloo – Byrnes Park

The Waterloo Parks Dept has groomed for both skating and classical skiing on the Warren Memorial Golf Course. The loop groomed for skating is 2 ¼ miles long. I skied for 1 ½ hours tonight and the skatinig conditions are fairly good. In spots where there is no underlying old snow it is a little thin.

I didn't ski the classical tracks but they looked decent. A friend said that they had drifted in some from the recent wind.

Our local trail advocacy organization, Cedar Trails Partnership, has been working with the Waterloo Parks Dept to groom for skating so this is new to them. They will continue to improve as they gain more experience.

The Parks Department has been setting classical tracks on both the Byrnes Park and Gates Park for years and they have continued to do so this year.
