Big Creek

Monday night, 6:00PM. Temp was near freezing or just below. The skate lane was very fast and well skied from the weekend. It was downright slippery for this novice skater. Two other skaters joined me later and one of them agreed that it was very fast. Coverage is still good, not great but good over 80% of the lane.

The classic track was OK. I'd say 65/35 decent enough track to no track, or sticks, grass, bare ground. If you go out at night please bring a light. Some of the bare spots sneak up on you pretty quickly.

Kick wax was Swix V45 and it was just right. Glide CH6 and it was very fast.

Be careful at the connectors...the 180 from Disc Golf to Lakeside is icy and has bare spots. The Lakeside to Prairie is getting hairy, somewhat literally, as lots of earth and grass popping up, like skiing on a white and brown chia pet. It's manageable and probably worth the trip to the Prairie loop if you hang back there a while and do a few laps.

If we don't get more snow soon, the classic track will be done in a week or less for all practical purposes. I just don't think there is anything Kevin & Tom can do without more snow. Get out and enjoy now striders.
