Big Creek, Ankeny/Des Moines

I have yet to get to Big Creek assuming that we just have not had enough snow to groom. And, according to Kevin, one of BC's groomers, I'm both right and wrong.

Kevin made a valiant effort and was able to pack what snow we have in the Disc Golf Loop and he tried in the Prairie Loop and had mixed results. Definitely rock skis. Nothing could be done with the Lakeside Loop and there definitely isn't enough snow to set a classic track. If you head out, be wary of sticks and long grass that can snag a ski tip.

Classic-wise I have had some reasonable results skiing anywhere I know that the little snow we have is covering a grassy base. Waxless skis with F4 glide wax produced some fun skiing both Sunday and last night at Cottonwood Recreation area just north of Des Moines. Even with the mid 30's temps yesterday there was just enough snow to get a decent glide. Maybe Thursday's potential snow event will get us going - think white stuff.
