The classic ski trail at River Bend Golf Course in Story City is now open. The trail is about
4km (unmeasured), and much of it follows the Skunk River. It's mostly flat, with one gentle
hill. All of the trail is skiable, including the bridge over the Skunk River. The trail is groomed by
volunteers on an as-needed basis. The trail starts at the club house on Forest Ave, just a block north of Broad St. It's a nice
warm-up or cool-down from the trail at Carr Woods in Ames.
