Lime Creek - Mason City area

The Lime Creek Nature Center cross country ski trails are being groomed today (12/10/09). All trails were inspected Thursday morning and an initial packing round was made with the snowmobile. Skate ski trails are 50-60% snow covered with the woodland diagonal stride trails 80-90% snow covered. The skate ski trails will be rolled/packed and tracks set on the woodland-diagonal stride trails during the afternoon. In addition the trail around Quarry Lake has been packed for hikers, dog walkers and snowshoe enthusiasts. Skiers are reminded that with the nature of this snowfall, the high winds and lack of an existing base, ski conditions will improve with additional snowfall events.
