Ames Grooming 12/21

I spent a couple hours grooming Carr Woods last night. All the skate lanes were re-combed to incorporate Sunday's snowfall. I left most of the classic lanes alone because they looked to be in good shape. I added another lane of classic skiing along the N/S powerline trail, and widened the skate lane along that portion.

Things looked great when I finished up, so ski it up today while you can.

We're keeping a close eye on the weather. The bad news is that Ames will likely get a lot of rain starting tomorrow, which will lead to significant deterioration of trail snow. The good news is that the rain will probably switch back to snow on Friday. Depending on the timing, we may get enough snow to redo everything.

Both groomers will be gone for holiday travel this week. Thanks for your understanding while we're away with our families. We'll get to the grooming as soon as we get back. The extended forecast looks to be calmer and cooler, so our new snow should last for a while.

Have an enjoyable holiday! More updates to come next week and the storm.
