Skied this afternoon on the skate trail. The firm base was holding up pretty good. Some of the hill that had direct sun exposure were getting soft and we had two of three brown spots, which Tom Weitz used a shovel to cover over.
The melting snow was leaving low lying areas moist and suddenly slow, especially if you were just coming down a hill. About six skiers were out when I was there, including Jeff Bradley, who came up from Davenport to get some Birkie training in.
The trail should freeze over tonight and be icy, but you should get an edge while skating, I think. Some grooming would be good on Monday.
