Big Creek State Park - 1/23

Friday, January 23, 2009 – Skiing conditions as of 11:00 a.m. were very good for skating and ranging from fair to good for classic. The trail was still 99% covered despite yesterday's thaw. I groomed the skating lane throughout the trail network and skied it this morning. It was smooth, firm and fast, but not icy. I decided not to attempt re-setting the classic tracks because I didn't think it would be successful under the existing conditions and the current tracks seemed reasonably good in most places. The Prairie Edge loop might have the best classic tracks at the moment. Drifting snow was not a factor this morning. Bring protection from the wind and you should have a good time this weekend.
